S2E2: Uwharrie Bigfoot & Spirit Box Experiences

On season 2, epsiode 2 of #creaky, Brooks and Megan give descriptive details of their camping trip to Uwharrie and why they believe they heard multiple Bigfoot. They also discuss their amazing experience while using the spirit box.

Uwharrie Bigfoot Hotspot

For years, many have told tales of their Bigfoot sightings and experiences in the Uwharrie National Forest. Due to these stories, Megan and Brooks decided to go on a weekend camping trip to Uwharrie campgrounds to investigate for themselves.

Uwharrie general store even sells merchandise with a photo of the Uwharrie Sasquatch they have named Uharrie. That’s how prevalent the tale of the Uwharrie Bigfoot is.

Sightings go from decades ago to even more recent, specifically in October of 2021 when the #creaky hosts were camping in the Uwharrie National Forest.

Uwharrie Bigfoot Experience

The camping trip was 3 days and 2 nights and both nights we heard what we describe as Bigfoot screams or yells. Both happened at around 2 am in the morning and they came from different directions.

The first night we decided to go to bed a little early because we were wore out from hiking and moving all of our gear into the Uwharrie National Forest. Right after laying down, we heard a loud sound in between our tents and went to investigate but found nothing. We decided to stay up a little longer and that’s when the sounds started happening. We also heard what we believe were the infamous Bigfoot knocks on trees.

The second night we decided to stay up and actually try to get a Bigfoot to scream by mimicking their sounds to no avail. But, then at 2 am again, almost the exact time as the night before, the screams started. It was as if multiple creatures were communicating with each other. It wasn’t any type of animal we’ve heard before and we grew up in the country so we’ve heard them all, or so we though. Spirit Box Experience in Uwharrie

Not only did we experience Bigfoot sounds, but we also used a spirit box to try and communicate with the other side. And boy did it surprise us.

S2E1: The Glimmer Man and Wendigo

In the first episode of season 2 of #creaky, Megan and Brooks investigate a new cryptid that they’ve never heard of before, the Glimmer Man and how it is slightly similar to the Wendigo.

What is the Glimmer Man?

If you are a fan of the movie Predator with Arnold Schwarzenegger then you are familiar with what the creature looks like while it is cloaking itself to be invisible. You can still see it’s outline but the inside is blurry and see-through. That is very similar to the Glimmer Man cryptid.

Most accounts say that it is very large, blurry but see through with yellow eyes. Most happen deep within the woods or wilderness, far from other people. A lot of the experiences with the Glimmer Man come from hunters, hikers or those who live in very rural areas.

During most Glimmer Man experiences, there is dead silence before it appears. Those who’ve encountered the Glimmer Man detail a sense of someone watching them, that eerie feeling that they are not alone.

Glimmer Man Similarities to Wendigo

The Wendigo is a creature or evil spirit that has a history with the Native Americans in the Plains and Great Lakes area. They are described as very powerful with a desire to murder and devour their victims. They look like half man and half monster with elk horns and a skull for a face. They are also very tall, dark, and ominous.

The Wendigo is said to have the power to control the mind of their victims, to be able to make them see and hear things that aren’t really there in order to lure them to their death. In some of the experiences we discuss, the Glimmer Man also has mind control powers and lures victims by making them hear loved ones crying for help in the woods.

Could the Glimmer Man be related in some way to the Wendigo? We believe it’s possible.

Is the Glimmer Man Responsible for Missing People Lost in the Woods?

Megan and Brooks discuss an experience that was told in the documentary Missing 411 that sounds very similar to the other experiences they discussed with the Glimmer Man. A woman was hunting in the woods when she saw the outline of a huge blurry figure moving through the woods. Soon after that, teens at a nearby school saw a UFO over their football field.

Since the Glimmer Man is seen deep in the woods and may have the ability to manipulate it’s victims with mind control and voice cloaking, we believe it is possible that it could explain why some missing victims are never seen again.

Episode 16: Boojum & North American Wood Ape

In this episode of #creaky, Megan and Brooks discuss the tale of the Boojum in Haywood County, NC and the possibility that he was a North American Wood Ape, or what most call “Bigfoot”.

Boojum & Annie in North Carolina

The Boojum is a tale that dates back to the early 1900s. Boojum is said to be between 7 and 8 feet tall, have grayish white hair all over his body except his face and is only aggressive when on the defensive.

He is said to like to collect rubies and gems that are found in the mountains of NC and hide them in moonshine jugs underground and in caves in the area. Not only did he like sparkly gems but he also had an eye for women. The legend says that he liked to watch women bathe in the lakes, rivers and streams in the area.

One woman he took a liking too was named Annie. She would holler for him and that’s where the term “hootinannie” came from, supposedly. Some believe that Boojum and Annie mated and lived together in the woods of the Appalachian mountains in NC.

The North American Wood Ape

Bigfoot is also called the North American Wood Ape in the NC mountains. Some believe, and Megan and Brooks speculate, that these wood apes could possibly be descendants of Boojum and Annie from the 1900s.

On the podcast, we discuss whether or not the Sasquatch has different hair colors like humans or if they hair color gets gray as it ages. Which could explain the Boojum’s greyish white hair. Maybe he was just older?

We even discuss other explainations, like if Bigfoot could be an alien? There are quite a few sightings of Bigfoot in the mountains of NC, also home of the Brown Mountain Lights which are believed to be possible aliens. Could aliens be checking on their Bigfoot relatives?

We also go into other cryptids such as large, prehistoric birds (not the mothman or great white monkey bat either) and sightings that others have had.

Episode 15: Real Life Matrix Glitches & Theories

Megan and Brooks discuss a theory that we are all in a simulated reality and sometimes this reality has “hiccups” or what others call a glitch in the matrix. We discuss the experiences of others and even our own experiences that could be explained as a matrix glitch.

Matrix Glitch Stories

We discuss several matrix glitch stories beginning with two people at a Chinese restaurant who order different things, see that they got two of the same thing, and then look again and it’s something different. Really subtle differences that could possibly be a matrix glitch?

We also discuss de ja vu and how that could be a sign of experiences a glitch in the matrix. Maybe there are alternate realities and sometimes those realities cross with each other causes a glitch in reality.

We also discuss scientists who believe simulated reality could be a possibility of our existence. And us getting closer and closer to creating a simulated reality could be proof of that.

Megan describes a time when she and her friend were driving down a country road and came back up the same road without making any turns, turning around or reaching the end of the road.

Brooks discusses times when he doubted reality but couldn’t remember the specific thing that happened. Another theory is that these matrix glitches are happening all the time, we just can’t remember most of them due to our programming.

Episode 14: Cattle Mutilations, UFOs & Animal Anomalies

In this episode, Megan and Brooks discuss animal anomalies like flocks of birds dying for no apparent reason and dead fish washing up onshore. That leads to the discussion of cattle mutilations, a crazy pheonmena that is happening across the world and has been for decades.

Cattle Mutilations: Are UFOs to blame?

The first cattle mutilation recorded was in 1967 although that’s not to say they haven’t been going on for longer than that. These aren’t just your run-of-the-mill, animal attack mutilations. These mutilations are happening with ultimate precision and done so well, even a surgeon couldn’t be to blame.

Most of the time the mutilations are where the cow’s eye, jaw, tongue, and genitals are removed with a scalpel-like instrument without disturbing any of the flesh or membranes surrounding these areas. It’s almost like it was done perfectly.

All accounts happen at night, in the pitch blackness with no street lights around because they are miles away from any town or civilization. And may are done with only one road in and out of the farm making it impossible to be unnoticed. Before some of these mutilations, a UFO is seen in the area.

We talk about a specific cattle mutilation account in Australia that has photos of the UFO and the cattle mutilations. On one occasion, one of the cow’s stomachs was removed which was said to be impossible without disturbing the surrounding stomachs by a veterinarian. How are these cows being mutilated with no witnesses and no explanation. Do you have a theory?

Episode 13: Personal Paranormal Experiences & Uwharrie Hauntings

In this episode, Megan and Brooks discuss their own personal paranormal experiences, some of which they both experienced as children growing up in the same household. They also go back to Brooks’s experience camping in Uwharrie and what could be out there.

Brooks’s Paranormal Experiences

Brooks tells of his own paranormal experiences, some recent that took place in his own home. As someone who doesn’t want to encourage the entities, he tries not to acknowledge what happens in his house to hopefully get them to leave him alone.

He also discusses things he experienced as a child, in his and Megan’s childhood homes. One has to do with a picture of Jesus that hung on their wall, the eyes following him. Another was a shadow person going from one room to the next that he mistook as a burglar.

Megan’s Paranormal Experiences

Megan also tells of things that happened during her childhood, one that Brooks experienced too. Hearing singing coming from their bathroom on various occasions that they didn’t know the other experienced until adulthood. To this day they aren’t sure what the noise they heard was.

Megan also tells of seeing an alien-like creature looking into the window at her as a child. Could it have been a dream or was it real? She also discusses things moving in her room without explanation and hearing people walking around when no one was at home.

Uwharrie Paranormal Happenings

Brooks camped at Uwharrie national park in North Carolina last fall and took his “ghost hunting” equipment with him. They picked up the word “creepy” on one of the instruments and right after his dog started growling at something in the dark that they couldn’t see.

In the early morning hours, Brooks and his wife heard someone walking outside into their camp towards the campfire. Brooks and his dog went to investigate but no one was found.

We’ve also gotten messages from listeners detailing other experiences in Uwharrie and we revisit a tale of a skinwalker in Uwharrie. Some say they can feel the energy around them while there and it hints that something not of this world is there. Many know the tale of the Uwharrie bigfoot too!
