Episode 6: Alien Abductions in NC & The Brown Mountain Lights

Megan and Brooks discuss a listener’s experience that was sent via Instagram. This listener, who wants to stay anonymous, had an experience with aliens in the mountains of NC over twenty years ago. This leads to a discussion of the Brown Mountain lights which was close to this listener’s experience.

Alien Abductions in North Carolina

We start off the episode detailing a very interesting account that was sent to #creaky’s Instagram account by a listener who wanted to remain anonymous. Over 20 years ago he was going through a hike in the mountains of NC. He was in college at the time and it was just getting dark. The next details are a bit blurry for him but he goes into what happened while being in the UFO and then what happens after, including years after because he’s still feeling the effects.

We discuss other alien abduction stories in North Carolina as well as the rest of the United States. We speculate what could have happened but some were not a one-off experience and a lot of people had the same encounter around the same time on the same day.

Brown Mountain Lights of North Carolina

Brooks and Megan then speak about the anomalies of the Brown Mountain Lights of NC. These are a bunch of unexplained lights reported sporadically for hundreds of years around Brown Mountain in North Carolina. The Brown Mountain Lights have been seen at a few locations about 70ish miles northeast of Asheville, NC in Burke County. Brown Mountain is in the Pisgah National Forest.

There are a lot of speculations as to what these lights are, one being ghost lights and possibly Native American or African American in history, trying to follow their way out of slavery. Some believe they are ghosts of those who were lost in the mountains over centuries.

We discuss the possibility of the Brown Mountain Lights of NC being alien in nature. Possibly UFOs or buried UFO equipment and UFOs trying to find this equipment. Also, it could possibly be connected to the legend of moon-eyed people in NC. Since the alien abduction we discussed happened in the North Carolina mountains, it is an eerie coincidence that it was around the Brown Mountain Lights.

Episode 5: Pink Lady Ghost of Grove Park Inn in Asheville

Megan and Brooks discuss the ghost of the Pink Lady that haunts Asheville’s Grove Park Inn hotel in North Carolina. There have been documented experiences of this ghost for over 100 years.

Megan and Brooks discuss a ghost that haunts the Omni Grove Park Inn in Asheville, NC called the Pink Lady on this episode of #creaky paranormal podcast. She either fell or was pushed off the 5th story balcony of the hotel. And nobody knows who she was. She never signed in, had no identification and to this day nobody knows who she was or if she had any family.

A lot of theories speculate what happened. Some say that she came to the Grove Park Inn to get married but her fiance called off the wedding causing her so much grief that she jumped. Some say that her fiancee and she were arguing and in the heat of the moment her fiance pushed her and she tripped, falling over the balcony. But it still doesn’t explain why friends of the fiance just accepted that she was gone if that’s what happened.

Megan’s theory is that the pink lady came to the hotel with the intention of committing suicide and that’s why she didn’t sign in or bring any identification with her.

We review encounters that patrons of the hotel have experienced as well as staff and contractors. These encounters have been going on for over 100 years. A lot of the detailed reports were done in the 90s but some have happened as recently as the last few years.

Episode 4: Mothman Sightings aka The Great White Monkey Bat

This is one episode that Megan and Brooks can call their favorite as they both had experiences with the Mothman or what they call The Great White Monkey Bat in North Carolina.

The Great White Monkey Bat Episode Description

Megan & Brooks both saw the Great White Monkey Bat, or what others may call The Mothman, on two different occasions in two different areas, years apart. Megan first saw the Mothman-like creature in NC on a rural road, right after Halloween back in 2000.

Brooks saw it sometime around 2012 or 2013 around five miles away from where Megan saw it over 10 years earlier. He also saw it in the fall time and while driving in a vehicle. Megan’s experience was at dusk while Brooks’s experience was before sunrise.

They then detail others who had similar experiences with the Mothman in North Carolina and around the United States.

It’s been said if you see the Mothman, it’s a bad omen as just before a bridge collapse, the Mothman was spotted on the same bridge just hours prior.

Episode 3: The Bell Witch Haunting in Tennessee

In this episode, Megan tells the story of the Bell Witch Haunting which took place in Tennessee back in the early 1800s. We really enjoyed discussing this particular haunting since it’s so close to our home in North Carolina.

The Bell Witch Haunting Podcast Episode Description

In 1817, John Bell and his family began to experience some strange happenings on their farm which included sounds being heard such as singing. They also included an odd animal sighting which could have been a skinwalker. Skinwalkers are said to be witches. Their daughter, Betsy, was targeted the most, waking up with bruises and welts.

Neighbors who spent the night with the Bells also experienced paranormal things and over time the ghost or what they called “the witch” would actually say names and give messages. John Bell’s wife heard the “witch” say that she hated John Bell and wanted to kill him.

The “witch” also told Betsy to not marry her intended, which was decided when she was a child.

In 1819, General Andrew Jackson who later became President came to the Bell home because he had heard of the Bell Witch from the Bell boys who served under him in the military. He wanted to see what the Bell Witch was all about. As they approached the farm, the wagon stopped and the horses couldn’t pull it as if the wagon was stuck when in reality, nothing could have been preventing it from going. Jackson exclaims that it’s the witch and then a female voice is heard saying “Alright, general, let the wagon move on, I will see you again tonight.” And then the horses could move again right after.

Jackson planned to stay a week but he and his group experienced so many attacks by the Bell Witch that night that they left the next day.

A&E actually did a 5 part series on The Bell Witch called Cursed: The Bell Witch. They had a clairvoyant talk to Betsy’s ghost and Megan discusses the clairvoyant’s past and what Betsy told her. Since Betsy was the one who experienced the most, they went to her grave to see what messages the clairvoyant received. The family of Betsy Bell believed what the clairvoyant said because she knew things nobody else could have known.

The clairvoyant says that a slave actually killed John Bell when it was thought that the Bell Witch killed him. It just gets crazier and crazier. Bob Bell, the 5th great-grandson of John Bell says that the clairvoyant’s story actually makes sense based on the family’s history.

In this episode, Megan and Brooks discuss Bigfoot aka Sasquatch, and sightings of him throughout North Carolina and the country at large.

We discuss a particular curious sighting where the person actually videoed the sighting and you can hear what he claims is the Bigfoot making sounds and screaming. This encounter happened in February 2013 in Ohio. The Youtuber called it “Salt Fork Ohio Grassman” and says it was footage of a Bigfoot spotted in Ohio’s largest state park.

In the Youtube video of the Salt Fork Ohio Grassman, aka Bigfoot, there are many other people sharing their sasquatch encounters. Some use their real name so they aren’t scared to be associated with the cryptid.

Brooks also shares other stories of the Yeti which is supposedly another version of Bigfoot. He shares an attack story from Russia that has been attributed to sasquatch.

Megan also shares stories of Bigfoot sightings in North Carolina and gives details on where the sightings are in case you are interested in going on a Bigfoot hunt in NC yourself.

Brooks discusses the idea that Bigfoot may be an inter-dimensional cryptid that is not of this world. Megan brings up the theory maybe Bigfoot is a half-evolved human.

They end the episode talking about Harry and the Hendersons and how Bigfoot is depicted as friendly and how that could be true.

Episode 1: The Lake Norman Monster, Normie

In this episode, Megan and Brooks discuss the Lake Norman Monster, Normie. It’s our first podcast episode so we apologize for any long pauses or mess-ups. We were just learning and really loved recording this paranormal podcast episode for you guys.

Lake Norman Monster Podcast Episode Description

We discuss experiences that others have had in relation to the Lake Norman Monster, aka Normie. Megan also details what she saw once while riding by Lake Norman on her way to visit a friend. She says she sees what looks like a large, 15-foot alligator in the water, swimming with its body exposed above the water.

Megan and Brooks also discuss what Normie could be. There are several theories out there, two of which they explore. One, that it’s a mutated fish due to the power plant being close to Lake Norman. Another that it’s an alligator and possibly a mutated one. And it could possibly be a prehistoric creature like Champ or Nessie, the monsters from Lake Champlain and Loch Ness, respectively. They also discuss whether it could be a large catfish or sturgeon that is just a huge size.

Some of the experiences detail that the creature looked like a dinosaur and was seen eating a duck on the surface of the lake. Some say its eye is luminescent and lights up the lake with one encounter detailing that the eye was the size of a small boat. Could these all by Normie, the Lake Norman Monster? Possibly.

There are so many possibilites of what Normie, The Lake Norman monster could be that it would take days to go through them all. We discussed the main possible culprits based on what eyewitness details are given.
